One of the things that makes pool so challenging is how difficult it is to make a consistent stroke with your cue. Any time your hands are sweaty or moist, it increases friction with the cue and makes it really hard to make a good pass on the ball. Most recreational pool players solve this problem by using chalk – but the problem is that chalk is super messy and has to constantly be reapplied.
That’s where the best pool glove can help out. Many skilled players wear a glove that eliminates friction no matter how sweaty your hands may be. In addition to no friction, pool gloves create extremely consistent conditions from shot to shot, which is a huge help if you want to improve your game or hold the cue consistently.
The other great news for you is that pool gloves are pretty cheap! For about the same investment as chalk, you can own a pool glove that will help improve your game right away. In the rest of this post, we’ll go over our picks for the best pool glove. Afterwards, we’ll also include some buying tips and what to look for when you make your purchase.

The Roaming Quick-Dry Pool Glove is probably the most well thought out pool glove design on this list. There are a ton of tiny features that add up to make a great glove.
For starters, the wrist band is adjustable – which is a lacking feature on many pool gloves. This makes finding the perfect fit super easy. From there, a non-slip heel pad is located in the palm area of the glove. This ensures a strong and supported bridge for every shot you can imagine, especially the ones where you would bridge on the wood edge of the pool table.
Finally, the material is elastic and breathable as you’d expect from the best pool glove. Unfortunately for lefties though, it’s only designed for right handed players.
Things We Like:
- Adjustable wrist strap supports all size hands.
- Anti-slip heel pad for maximum bridge support.
- Comes in black or red.
- Quick dry, high quality, stretchable material used in the design.
- Reasonable price point.
Things We Don’t:
- Fits on left hand only.
- Only one glove comes per pack (but it’s super high quality).
Unglove Fingerwrap Billiards Glove
If you’re prone to sweaty palms when you play games, an open palm style glove might be the best pool glove option for you. When it comes to open palm designs, Unglove makes the best and most consistent finger wrap in the industry.
The open palm design obviously helps your palm stay cool and comfortable. The material used for the wrap is smooth and stretchy, so it will provide you with a super consistent surface to hit shots on over and over again.
Things We Like:
- Open palm design is great for sweaty hands.
- Stretchy material provides consistent surface for shots.
- Comes in 9 different colors.
- The product is designed to work for either hand.
Things We Don’t:
- One size fits all isn’t ideal for really large or small hands.
Best Pool Glove Buying Tips
Even though pool gloves aren’t super expensive, it’s nice to think about a few different factors before you go off and make a purchase. Here are a few things to look for in your search for the best pool glove:
Traditional vs. Open Palm Design
First and foremost, you should think about which design philosophy is best for your game. For players who are prone to sweaty hands, we almost always recommend an open palm design (or finger wrap). Even though many traditional gloves are made with super breathable material, it’s not the same thing as exposure to the air.
On the other hand, we usually suggest traditional gloves for all other players, simply because they are more consistent and durable for the most part. This is something that also comes down to personal comfort and preference.
Left or Right Handed?
I play pool left handed so I need a left handed pool glove. Quite a few pool gloves are only designed to be worn by right handed players, so you really need to make sure the one you buy is designed for lefties or for both hands before you buy.
Size
Most pool gloves are made as one size fits all. Since many gloves are constructed of a stretchy material, this sizing model works. As a customer, it also works great for you if you have average size hands, or maybe a little bigger or smaller than average.
The problem comes if you have particularly small or large hands. If you do, it’s important to do your research and make sure the glove you buy will be a good fit. Gloves with adjustable wrist straps or gloves specifically designed for small/large hands are great alternatives.
Material
We’ve touched on this a little bit already, but the material of your pool glove is probably its most important feature. This is the part of the glove that a) interacts with the pool cue and b) is the most important factor in how comfortable your glove is.
You want something that walks the line of stretchy and breathable. Stretchy is good because the pool glove will form fit to your hand, thus creating a super consistent surface for your shots. Breathable is good for obvious reasons – the comfort of your hand.
Even for the best pool glove, it’s tough to be perfectly stretchy and breathable. Odds are, you might have to make some compromise here, so think about which is more important to you.
