As a gamer, you must have the right chair – a chair that is ergonomic, comfortable, good for your spine, and offers lumbar support. There are many brands on the market, and today I wanted to go over three of the more popular brands – DXRacer vs Secretlab vs AKRacing.
These three are popular for good reason – they are some of the best quality gaming chairs at a reasonable price. The prices of these chairs range from $300 to $700.

DXRacer vs Secretlab vs AKRacing Overview
The three brands on review today include DXRacer vs Secretlab vs AKRacing. As already mentioned, their ergonomic build, sturdy frame, and warranties are all great selling points.
DXRacer is a brand which launched in 2001. As evident by their name, DXRacer also makes seats for sports cars and other supercars. In 2006, they started making gaming chairs. Some of their more popular gaming chairs include DXRacer Racing Series, DXRacer King Series, DXRacer Formula Series, and DXRacer Classic Series. DXRacer chairs can support weights of up to 450 lbs.; include a lumbar support pillow; and feature ergonomic designs, lifetime warranty on frame, and a two-year warranty on parts.
Secretlab is a more recent brand, launched in 2014. The company has since then risen in popularity amongst gamers all over the world. As with all the brands mentioned, Secretlab has a series of gaming chairs including Secretlab Omega”, and Secretlab Titan. Secretlab chairs can support weights of up to 239 lbs. They include a lumbar support pillow, feature ergonomic designs, and a five-year warranty on frame and parts.
AKRacing is another company that produces gaming chairs very similar to the two brands already mentioned. As with DXRacer, AKRacing started as a company that makes automotive sport seats before expanding into the gaming chair niche. Some of their more popular chairs include AKRacing EX Series, AKRacing SX Series, AKRacing LX Series, and AKRacing Premium.
AKRacing chairs are ergonomically designed; feature flexible lumbar and neck cushions, and a five/ten-year warranty on frame with a two-year warranty on parts. It can support weights of up to 330 lbs.

Build
All these three brands are high-end and as such uses the best materials. They all have metal frames that are durably built and gas lifts to change the elevation of the seats. The upholstery of the three brands is made of PU leather or breathable fabric. And all three chairs have racing/bucket seats. Let’s look at some build characteristics of chairs from each brand.
DXRacer
DXRacer chairs are designed to provide support for your spine, neck, and pelvis. This ensures your posture is right even after hours of gaming. Also, the armrests that come with the DXRacer chairs are fully adjustable. You can set it high or low. Gamers can change the height of the armrest when the elbows start to feel stiff or sore.
The steel frame will last for decades. The chair won’t lose shape and the sponge-like padding will be as firm in a year’s time as it was when you first acquired it. It also features 4D armrests.

Secretlab
Secretlab chairs are unique because not only are they well-built and comfortable, they are also sleek, and very stylish looking. Secretlab gaming chairs look like they were designed for a James Bond movie. The seats feature a cool logo stitched in gold and white on the backrest.
According to Secretlab, their chairs feature a PU leather upholstery which is four times stronger than regular PU. The chair is super durable and the padding doesn’t squish or cave in even after years of use. The armrests can be adjusted left, right, angled left, angled right, forwards, backward, up, down. Secretlab calls them 4D armrests.
The two popular options include the
- Omega series, which are designed for comfort and is made of top quality materials. It is designed to support weights of up to 240 lbs., and heights of 5’11”. The leather feels good and the chair is easy to adjust. The lumbar and headrest cushions feature Secretlab’s Signature Memory Foam, which includes a cooling gel for dissipating heat and ensuring the headrest is always chilled.
- Titan Series, these are the best of the best. You can choose between NAPA leather, SoftWeave fabric, or PU leather for the upholstery. This chair is designed for gamers with heights of 5’9″ to 6’7″. As you can see this chair is made for the large gamer. In addition to the fact that it is made for the large gamer, the Titan series includes all the features of the Omega Series.
AKRacing
The AKRacing seats are designed to look like seats you expect to find in a race car. This makes for a cool looking seat. Additionally, weight is distributed evenly ensuring that you remain comfortable even after long hours. While some of the chairs have PU leathery upholstery, others are fabric upholstered.
Additionally, the chair’s high-density foam padding means that an AKRacing chair is resilient to compression and remains comfortable even after several years. The armrests can be moved up, down, in, and out to ensure you find that sweet spot.
Some popular AKRacing chairs include the
- Nitro Series, which is made of PU leather and support weights of up to 330 lbs. Since it is made of PU leather, the chair isn’t breathable. However, it is extremely well ventilated. It also offers lumbar support and headrest cushions.
- EX Series, which is a chair fit for a king. This chair has breathable fabric upholstery, rocking function, adjustable head, and lumbar cushions, 180-degree recline, and adjustable armrests.
- LX Series, which features a wider frame for the big gamer. It has all the features that an AKRacing chair offers which include rocking function, adjustable head, and lumbar cushions, 180-degree recline, and adjustable armrests. Additionally, it includes 10% more cold cured foam padding for added comfort.
Build Winner – Secretlab
Explanation – Secretlab chairs may be more expensive but their signature memory foam ensures that the head and lumbar cushions are the best you can find and just a step above the rest. The upholstery materials are extra durable. The PU leather used in their chairs is four times tougher than regular PU leather.
That’s not to say DXRacer and AKRacing chairs aren’t solid builds. If we have to split hairs, Secretlab is the winner.
Cost
In terms of cost, expect to pay more for the brands mentioned than you will for any other office chair. They are worth it though since they are super comfortable and durable and backed by manufacturer’s warranties.
Secretlab gaming chairs are marginally costlier than both DXRacer chairs and AKRacing chairs cost. However, if you go for NAPA leather upholstery (with the Secretlab brand), Secretlab gaming chairs cost twice more than DXRacer chairs and AKRacing chairs cost. So with that in mind, it’s hard to not love DXRacer at the price point they offer.
DXRacer
These are around the price race to be expected. Most of their seats will cost you around $250 to $300. The King Series is the most expensive and will cost you about $450. While this is still higher than your average office chair, they are still reasonably priced for the features they offer. Most of their chairs that run more than $400 are equipped to seat big and tall gamers.
Secretlab
Secretlab gaming chairs are expensive – there’s no way around it. In terms of what they offer though, we still feel like you get good bang for your buck. The Omega Series will cost you anywhere about $350 to $800 depending on the type of upholstery chosen with the PU leather seat being the most affordable, and the NAPA leather seat being the costliest.
The Titan series is similarly priced as the Omega series is. The seats will cost you about $400 to $850 depending on the upholstery type chosen.
AKRacing
These chairs are similarly priced as the DXRacer chairs. They are more expensive than low-tier gaming chairs and regular office chairs. However, they are better made and offer better support and a warranty. You should expect to pay between $250 and $300 for AKRacing gaming chairs. And for the Master Series, expect to pay between $300 and $400.
Cost Winner – DXRacer
Suitability for The Tall or Big Gamer
As a big and tall gamer getting a chair can be a challenge as most gaming chairs seem to be designed for regular-sized humans. However, that is not the case with these three brands.
DXRacer chairs come in 5 different sizes (S to XXL). As such any gamer should get a chair perfect for them including big and tall gamers. They also have a Tank Series line, which is a chair specifically built to support gamers who are up to 6’8″ and has a weight rating of 425 pounds.
Secretlab offers two chair series – the Omega and the Titan. While the Omega is designed with regular-sized gamers in mind, the Titan can support gamers with heights up to 6’7″.
AKRacing chairs are designed for people of all sizes and weights. For the big and tall, the Max gaming seat is perfect. It easily accommodates tall and/or big gamers.
Winner – DXRacer
Explanation – While all the brands offer seats for tall and big players. The weight limit on the Secretlab Titan series, specifically designed for big players, is 290 lbs. DXRacer manufacture chairs with weight limits of 425 lbs. AKRacing offers chairs with weight limits of the 400 lbs, which is close, but not quite on the level of DXRacer.
Aesthetics
These gaming chairs come in several colors and designs. By default, all the gaming seats manufactured by the mentioned brands are racing/bucket style seats. As such they go well with the gaming motif. Additionally, racing seats efficiently distribute weight ensuring they are comfortable.
Secretlab offers chairs in dark colors. The overall design and appearance are sleek. The logos are discreet, and the build is quality. You can notice the expert craftsmanship that goes into the making of a Secretlab chair. The chairs are sleek black with gold-white logos and threading of a single color. Secretlab chairs are definitely the best looking chairs on the market.
AKRacing chairs come in many colors. The color chooses are a mix of black and another color (including orange, green, indigo, blue, red, and white). They also come in all black. The logos are printed in white (for all black chairs), indigo, blue, or red, matching the color of the chair. The colors are bold and vivid, unlike Secretlab chairs were the colors are subtle.
DXRacer chairs come in colors similar to that of AKRacing chairs. The main color of the chairs is black. In addition to this, an alternate color sculpts the edges of the chair and sketches exquisite designs. The alternate colors include indigo, gold, green, blue, and white.
Winner (Aesthetics) – Secretlab
Explanation – this is really down to preference, so the winner here for me might be different than for you. I prefer the subtle threading, and gorgeous gold logos if the Secretlab chairs.
DXRacer vs Secretlab vs AKRacing – Conclusion
Gaming chairs are staples in any gaming setup. They help prevent injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome. They are also extra comfortable and durable. So which of the three popular brands is the best? Truth be told, that is down to choice.
While some may find the Secretlab chairs to be the most attractive, some prefer the bold colors of AKRacing and DXRacer chairs. Similarly, both the DXRacer and AKRacing chairs are much more affordable. It’s all down to your preference, but I hope this comparison of DXRacer vs Secretlab vs AKRacing has been helpful to you.
